Microcredential Overview:

This microcredential introduces healthcare value analysis professionals to the practical application of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare value analysis processes. It covers core AI concepts, explores current use cases, and empowers participants to apply AI tools in real-world decision-making scenarios. Participants will complete a guided course project, reinforcing their learning through hands-on experience with AI-supported value analysis tools and techniques.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Define key AI concepts and distinguish between AI, machine learning, and automation.
  2. Explain the relevance and value of AI in healthcare value analysis.
  3. Evaluate AI use cases that support product selection, literature review, cost analysis, and implementation monitoring.
  4. Apply AI tools to streamline a step in the value analysis process.
  5. Analyze ethical considerations and risks when using AI in clinical and operational decision-making.
  6. Design a mini-project demonstrating the use of AI in a value analysis workflow.

Session 1 – Foundations & Exploration (2 Hours)

Session 2 – Ethics, Toolkits, and Project Work (2 Hours Instruction)

  • Governance and Organizational Policy Recommendations

Module 4: Getting Started – Tools, Prompts, and Templates

  • Practical Tools: GPTs, Literature Summarizers, AI Assistants
  • Prompt Engineering Basics for Value Analysis
  • Templates for AI-assisted Reviews and Cost Justifications

Course Project Introduction:

  • Choose a value analysis task (e.g., product request, literature summary, justification report)
  • Apply at least one AI tool
  • Present a short written or visual summary
